Telling Time

Yesterday, Josie learned to tell time. I haven't quite figured out what her methodology was. Did she look at the sun's position and the length of her brother's shadow? Or was it the angle at which I was hunched over or the pained look in my face after a long day. It could of been the ease at which I was irritated or the shrill tone of my harsh voice.

But at exactly 7:00 pm she sat on the couch and looked at me with knowing eyes and said, "It's too late for Daddy to get home."

It was probably the first thing she said in a long time, definitely the first thing she said all day, that I wholeheartedly 100 % agreed with.
