Leroy left today with a pink butt and sand mustache. Apparently white dogs don't mix well with toddlers who love chalk and live in the sand. My sister should have known better than to leave her precious puppy in the care of two parents pushed the edge every day by two plotting toddlers.
Two minutes after leaving Leroy in our care, he slipped through two ineffective fence posts to sneak into our neighbors yard and then through two more ineffective fence posts to follow the yellow slash lines, hopefully, back to Carrie's lap.
Ten minutes after leaving Leroy in our care, Carrie got a call from a friend down the street who found Leroy running down the boardwalk. Just as Norm was riding the bike down the boardwalk to find the dog that meant more at that moment than either of our two children, Carrie was walking up the boardwalk probably shaking her head as Norm and I rode and ran frantically up and down the boardwalk.
When I saw Leroy being handed over the fence I sighed a sense of relief. Relieved that we found Carrie's precious puppy and relieved that I wasn't going to have to decide which if my two children I was going to offer to Carrie in exchange for losing Leroy.
