When I was younger, I would get mad at my mom for not letting me do something. I would say, "But so-and-so's mom is letting her do it." My mom calmly replied, "well why don't you go ask so-and-so's mom to be your mom?" I never even entertained the idea. Not for a second.
I knew that even though mom may not let me do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, she was still the best. By a landslide. Some may say I was wise beyond my years but I think she was just that amazing. It was obvious, even to a bratty 10 year old.
I realized that whatever it was I wanted to do certainly wasn't worth switching moms. So-and-so may have been allowed to go the movie's with boys, but my mom was working hard every day to make a better life for me and make me better for the life ahead. I had plenty of time to go to the movies with boys later. And when I was finally old enough to go to the movies with boys, I realized going with my mom was more fun anyways.
I love you mom!
