Today I made play dough for the first time. My motivation was three fold. First of all, Norm was going for a run. Which meant I needed some sort of activity to occupy them while I sat on the couch for a few minutes. Number two, it was cold outside. And I didn't feel like putting both kids in the car and going to Target. And number three, play dough is expensive. And I had everything I need to make playvdough in my pantry so I couldn't justify going to the store to buy it. Oh, and I guess I should add number four, I am the greatest mother in the world.
It went pretty well. Aside from the fact the I tried to make red and it ended up looking like salmon. The best part was that Owen tried eating it and gagged several times before throwing it across the room. So I didn't screw up and make it taste good. We all had a great time. So great that I sat down with them the entire time and made salmon play dough snowmen and salmon play dough flowers and salmon play dough balloons which despite several attempts by Josie do not float in the air.
The salmon play dough extravaganza didn't last long but lasted much longer than Josie's normal two minute attention span. My efforts were appreciated and my color choice wasn't questioned. It was sweet. It was simple. It was salmon.
