Jingle. Scratch. Delete.

I went to the library today to try to write some real stories. It was exhilerating to walk into a library with a backpack on.

I sat down at my table and opened my laptop. Another key popped off but no one noticed. While my laptop booted up, I felt a wave of creativity coming over me. Five minutes later, when microsoft word finally opened, I started to type. I stopped. Behind me I heard an odd jingle. And then a scratch. And then a jingle. I turned around. An 80 year old lady had set up shop at the table behind me with a stack of lotto tickets and a charm bracelet filled with pictures of her 400 grandchildren. I wrote. She jingled. She scratcbed. I deleted. I wrote. She jingled. She scratcbed. I deleted. And that's how it went the entire hour.

Maybe I will have more luck at Peet's where the sound of grinding coffee beans and frothing milk can drown out the old ladies with lotto tickets.
