When serious writers in serious magazines or newspapers make an error, they always print a retraction as soon as the error is realized.
The only comment that my mother had regarding writing while she was in the Holy Land was that "Hugs and Kisses" was in fact, my father's doing. My instincts proved correct.
As she wrote the email to us, my father was next to her. She signed the email "Love to All" and asked my dad for final approval.
Of all things about the email my dad could edit, amend, suggest, the one thing he came up with was, "Hugs and Kisses." I am too tired today to really delve into the many writing opportunities this provides. But I reserve the right to save this fun factoid about my dad for later posts.
For today, a retraction is in order.
My mother never has nor never will sign an email, letter or post-it note with the words "Hugs and Kisses." Not even a pilgrimage to the Holy Land could change a woman that much. And clearly, it couldn't change my mushy Dad either.
