Have Love Will Travel

Josie and I walked through the airport hand in hand. Couples all around us exchanged kisses, roses and excited glances while they thought about the romantic weekend ahead. A couple in love across the aisle from us fell asleep in each other's arms. Even Josie took notice and updated me periodically. "Mama - they still sleeping." As the wheels hit roughly on the ground in San Jose the couple awoke from their romantic dreams and looked lovingly in each other's eyes. "Mama - they woke up." Josie screamed. The couple looked at Josie with a confused daze and then returned to their magical moment.

Josie and I walked away from our gate into a sea of more couples in love who were off to their own adventures. Josie sat in her stroller and screamed, "Daddy. Daddy. Daddy." After I explained he was too far to hear, she screamed louder. A concerned older couple stopped me and asked if Josie was okay. Too tired and too irritated to explain, I just kept walking.

We turned the corner and there in a chair sitting quietly were our valentimes. It was a gushy family reunion that would have given the sleeping lovers on southwest a run for their money. Josie and Owen kept saying hi to each other. I think Norm and I even snuck in a kiss and a Happy Valentine's Day. It was all I needed to erase every annoying moment I had traveling on the most romantic day of the year.

When we got home, Josie got irritated with Owen for taking her toys. I got mad at Norm for making too many vegatables. Today, of all days, Owen and Norm were destined for failure. We went from a house full of people who love us and spend all of their time with us to a house full of Owen and Norm. It puts a lot of pressure on two to make up for the love of many. Especially on a day that is supposed to be all about love.

Thankfully Owen and Norm have hearts capable of loving Josie and I as much if not more than a whole city full of people. And forgiving natures to overlook our momentary meltdowns. The ladies of the house needed a little time to adjust. Atheletes arrive a day early when traveling for a big game. Josie and I needed an day to get ready for Valetine's Day. Maybe we can reschedule for tomorrow.
