Josie and I flew down to LA today to visit my family for my sister's 35th birthday. It is our first girls weekend.
I made the mistake of showing Josie an airplane before we boarded. She looked at it for a minute and then made it very clear that she had no intention of getting on the plane. "Let's take a car instead," she said. That was the first time Josie has ever the word "instead". She dug deep into her intellect to form the sentence because it was appropriate and vital to make it perfectly clear there were other options.
As I explained that is was too late to drive, an airplane took off on the runway right across from us.
"What is THAT?" Josie screamed and for a minute airport personnel was worried there might be a security risk at gate 18.
Fortunately, I had enough sense to dig deep into my own intellect to come up with a response.
"A bird," I said as I took her hand and walked her away from the window.
